Minutes of the Blandford Network School Council Meeting
14th October 2010 – Milldown School
Present: Downlands, Pimperne, Durweston, Spetisbury, Milldown, Dunbury, Archbishop Wake, Blandford St Mary, The Blandford School
1. Rights Respecting Schools Display – Corn Exchange
The date for the RRS display was confirmed as 15th December. Each school
will have a table for display but needs to provide own display board. Each school chose an article for their display, as follows:
Downlands: Article 7
Pimperne: Article 17
The Blandford School : Article 12
Milldown: Article 30
Dunbury: Article 31
Archbishop Wake: Article 28
Blandford St Mary: Article 28
Durweston: Article 14
Spetisbury: Article 24
Downlands to find out when we can get in the Corn Exchange to set up and also how big the tables are.
2. Lantern Parade
The Lantern Parade will take place on the evening of 15th December, starting at 6.30pm (t.b.c.). Thanks to Milldown for showing us how to make the lanterns. Each school has committed to making 30 lanterns.
It was agreed that the resources for making the lanterns would be ordered by Milldown and an email sent when they are ready for collection.
3. Rights Respecting Community
A number of local people have expressed an interest in Blandford Forum becoming a Rights Respecting Community. All of the schools are either now Level 1 RRS or currently working towards a Level 1 award. It was agreed that each school will have developed a whole-school Rights Respecting Charter and will bring it to the next meeting. It was also decided to invite the Mayor of Blandford to our next meeting.
